To New Heights! Fundraiser for The Carle
Please join us November 4 to honor Alix Kennedy and celebrate her 15-year tenure as executive director at The Carle.
Since 2008, Alix Kennedy has dramatically raised the profile of The Carle, now an important champion for picture book illustration around the world. She has been a dynamic leader, trusted and respected by colleagues, staff, and the picture book community. Alix’s deeply held belief in the power of picture books—to bring joy, to encourage creativity, to unite people of all ages—combined with her passion and vision has propelled the Museum through an era of dizzying accomplishments (read details). Thanks to her efforts, the Museum is ready to soar to even greater heights.
We want to pay tribute to Alix’s tenure in a meaningful way that reflects the conviction she brought to her work. We’ve created a special, honorary campaign focused on three priority areas chosen by her:
-
Supporting Inclusion
-
Collections Care
-
Free Access to the Museum
What a vision! Please help us build an even more inclusive Museum through staff development and public programs, with funds to support its collection, where everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to pay. We are thrilled The Carle’s current and former board members have come together to offer a leading gift of $100,000 to inspire matching funds toward these priorities in honor of Alix’s leadership. Our great hope is that you will join in celebrating Alix and this seminal moment for the Museum.
We will host a special evening cocktail reception to celebrate Alix with key friends, enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks, and meet her successor, Jennifer Schantz, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 6-8 pm at the Museum. All donors to this campaign to honor Alix are invited to attend. We will announce the gift total at the event, so please make your commitment early. We would love for you to be a part of this celebration!
To Alix—and to new heights!
