ALL: A Look into LGBTQ+ Representation in Picture Books

Online
It is this visibility that makes the difference between acceptance and hatred. We all fear what we do not know, and WHO we do not know…I think if we knew each other’s stories, the world would have less fear and more understanding, less hate and more compassion.”
Mike Curato

Blog post, 2016.

Chandra Boudreau, the museum’s former Trinkett Clark Intern and a current librarian, curated this online exhibition. It is an updated version of Boudreau’s 2018 Reading Library exhibition ALL: A Look into LGBTQ+ Representation in Picture Books. Boudreau highlights contemporary stories as well as some historically significant titles that encourage positive representation and inclusion of all people and identities.

This exhibition is made possible through the generous support of the Edwin S. Webster Foundation.
