Cover to Cover: Reimagining Familiar Stories with Different Faces

Kristen Joy Emack is a 2022 Guggenheim Fellow, a MacDowell Fellow, a Saint Botolph Fellow, and a Massachusetts Cultural Arts Fellow. Her first photo book, COUSINS (L’artiere), was published in 2023. She is a family engagement partner for the Cambridge (MA) Public Schools.

Marva Hinton is the articles development editor for The Horn Book. She is also a freelance writer who frequently covers topics related to education, literacy, and equity. Marva hosts the ReadMore Podcast, an interview show that primarily features authors of color. She holds an MFA in fiction from Antioch University Los Angeles, and a BA degree in journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill. Marva lives in South Florida. 

Elissa Gershowitz is editor in chief of The Horn Book, Inc. She holds an MA from the Center for the Study of Children’s Literature at Simmons University and a BA from Oberlin College.
